It opened two days ago in Swansea, the birthplace of Thomas, the annual festival that celebrates the poet with readings of poetry and prose, plays, meetings, numerous exhibitions and other events. Now in its twelfth year, the festival is dedicated to the memory of the daughter of Thomas, Aeronwy Thomas Ellis, who died last July 27. Gi events will run from October 26 to November 9 , and will be mainly in the Dylan Thomas Centre (pictured), which also houses the permanent exhibition "The Man and the Myth", the most extensive collection of memorabilia of the poet. This is not just an eye toward the past. Besides the celebration of the genius of Thomas and his work is given a voice to his poetry and current events through other voices, those of friends, the poets who were his contemporaries or those from influenced him to this day.
In some events this year will revolve around two authors who profoundly influenced the work of Thomas, WB Yeats and W. Shakespeare, Ted Hughes and , in turn shaped by the poet. Among its famous guests, the Welsh poet Dannie Abse , and authors who were born or living in Swansea, as Peter Read and Phil Bowen . It will also hold a conference on the poetry of Lynette Roberts , friend and contemporary of Thomas.
